"There is an arc of destruction that threatens 100 million hectares of the Amazon Rainforest now. About 10 million hectares are protected from deforestation, driven by the voluntary carbon market. During the climate summit on Thursday, 22, President Jair Bolsonaro made two important announcements, but Brazil will need to change its stance and firmly and efficiently execute what it promises: to be zero carbon by 2050 and to end illegal deforestation still in this decade, in 2030. These two initiatives, by the way, are - or should be - closely linked, especially when we have just broken a deforestation record, last March, according to PRODES data."
