"I spoke with the CEO of Verra, one of the world’s most influential carbon credit certifiers, about key issues on the Brazilian climate agenda." — By Janaína Dallan for Um Só Planeta
David Antonioli, CEO of Verra, leads one of the world’s most important carbon certification bodies. With a background in Sociology and a Master's in Public Policy, he is a recognized expert in climate change. Always open to dialogue, Antonioli welcomes the exchange of ideas. We recently met at his Washington, D.C. office to discuss REDD+ projects in the Brazilian Amazon, deforestation risk areas, and national legislation on carbon credit certification. In our February conversation, we explored cooperation between the Brazil NBS Alliance and Verra, particularly regarding REDD+ and jurisdictional REDD+ methodologies, and how local companies can enhance the impact of current practices, acknowledging the distinct realities across project regions.
